Veena Malik is in trouble by Mufti sahib of Pakistan

Pakistani actress Veena Malik has managed to stay in the Bigg Boss house so far and has also won a few fans here in India. But back home in Pakistan, she’s become the subject of a raging debate.

A discussion on a Pakistani TV show on Sunday turned heated when Mufti Abdul Qawi blasted the ousted contestant Ali Saleem aka Begum Nawazish Ali. When the debate veered towards Veena, the maulvi slagged her for indecent behaviour and exposure and called her ‘a threat to Islam’, sparking a media debate that has even spilled onto public forums in Pakistan and social networking sites.

The blog article carried by Dawn, a reputed daily in Pak, slams the maulvi for making Veena a representative of Islam.

“Apparently, Mufti sahib was very angry because Veena seems to be disrespecting Islam by behaving so irresponsibly in India on public television. What I don’t seem to understand is that how did this woman who got famous mimicking politicians and dancing between trees in Lollywood movies, become a representative of Islam?” writes Shyema in the blog.

“I suppose it is okay for Veena to show her body in scanty silky saris and dance provocatively on local screens but the minute she starts showing that ‘immoral’ behviour in India, oh no, Islam is in danger!!” Shyema added.

Nida, a reader, had an interesting take on the clerics objections: “Im surprised at the fact that this Maulvi could have time to watch TV and analyse her performance on Bigg Boss...”
